Square Footage Calculator
*10% Overage is standard. More is required if cuts are needed.
Getting Started
1) The first step of calculating your square footage is breaking your space into rectangles.
Taking Measurements
2) Measure the length and width of your rectangles in inches.
You can now enter your values into our calculator or calculate square footage manually by completing the steps in this tutorial.
Calculating Square Footage
3) Multiply the length x width for a rectangle. That gives you your total square inches.
4) Divide your total square inches by 144 inches in a square foot to get your square footage.
5) Repeat for each rectangle and add your square footage together.
Adding Overage
6) Take your total square footage and add the overage you'd like for your project. Most add a standard 10% overage, with projects requiring more cuts (like our Lush Glass Tile collection) needing more overage such as 15% or 20%. Your tile installer may recommend the percentage of overage necessary.
To add overage simply multiply your total square footage by 1.1 for 10% overage, 1.15 for 15% overage or 1.2 for 20% overage.
7) Round up your final square footage number to a whole number then you are ready to order!
